John Carson and his wife Eileen have three children and live in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.  John is a 2009 graduate of the Leadership Program of the Rockies.  John presently serves as President of the Douglas County Board of Education, which oversees Colorado's third largest school district, educating over 60,000 students. 

In recent years the Douglas County Board of Education has overseen a dramatic expansion of school choice by empowering traditional neighborhood schools, increasing the number of charter schools, sponsoring the Hope Online Learning Academy, and enacting the Choice Scholarship Program, a groundbreaking partnership between public education and private schools. 

John is Vice President and General Counsel for Cherry Creek Mortgage Company in Greenwood Village. John was previously an attorney in the Denver office of Snell & Wilmer law firm. He formerly served as the Rocky Mountain Regional Director for the U.S. Development of Housing and Urban Development in the Administration of President George W. Bush. Earlier in his career, John served in a number of legislative positions on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. working for Senator Wayne Allard (R-CO), Congressman Joe Knollenberg (R-MI) & Senator Bob Kasten (R-WI). 

John is a graduate of the University of Colorado in Boulder, with a BA in Political Science and a Juris Doctorate. During college John served in the Marine Corps Reserve. He also holds a Master of Laws in Taxation from Georgetown University. John grew up in Colorado and attended Green Mountain High School in Lakewood.
