Alex M. Cranberg

Alex has been President and Chairman of Aspect Management Corporation and Aspect Energy, LLC, since their inception in 1993. Aspect is the leading explorer in the upper Texas Gulf Coast and Southwest Louisiana onshore regions, based on intensive application of proprietary 3D seismic technology. He joined Houston Oil and Minerals Corp. in 1977 where he served in various engineering and financial roles. He has managed the oil and gas portfolio of General Atlantic Partners, a private investment firm, since 1981. He has been the Vice Chairman of Esenjay Exploration and was on the Boards of two other public exploration and production companies, Brigham Exploration, Inc. and Westport Oil and Gas Corporation. He received a BS in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas and an MBA from Stanford University. As a venture capitalist Alex has founded several start-up companies in the oil and gas exploration, mining, and software arenas. He also is an investor in several Denver-area distribution and media companies.

Alex is married to Susan Morrice, a geologist from Belfast, Northern Ireland. They have two daughters, Hannah (8) and Clare (4).

Public service interests:

* Conducted strategy retreat and developed capital raising plan for Hernando de Soto’s Institute for Liberty & Democracy (Lima, Peru).
* Founded GoToSchool.org and The School Fair, a web site and expo respectively dedicated to providing information for parents regarding public and private schools in the Denver metro area.
* Founded ACE (Alliance for Choice in Education), a private scholarship organization dedicated providing funds for low-income parents to afford Denver-area private and parochial schools. In its first school year of operation (2000-2001) ACE provided $1 million in scholarships to Denver families and continues to meet or exceed this level of support.
* Serves on the Denver Boys Scouts Board of Trustees
* Serves on the Board of Trustees for Metropolitan State College of Denver
