The Honorable Victor Mitchell
Victor Mitchell is currently the CEO and Chairman of ReLogic. He is an Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at San Diego State University Business College. Victor served as a Colorado State Representative representing House District 45.
A wireless company executive once asked Vic Mitchell for a copy of his resume. Mitchell was flattered, but there was one problem: he doesn’t have a resume. Mitchell is 44 years old and has never worked for anyone.
Since he was 21 years old, Mitchell has been a serial entrepreneur, launching one successful business venture after another. By 1991, he was operating a retail and distribution business, Advantage Cellular, and over the proceeding years won numerous awards for both growth and innovation. After the company was successfully sold to Verizon Wireless in 1995 (formerly AirTouch Cellular), Mitchell moved to Denver in 1996 and began what became one of the largest and most successful wireless distributors in the United States. Mitchell’s concept was to assist “mom and pop” retailers by aggregating their selling power to procure favorable fees and rights from national wireless service providers. After years of dramatic growth and profitability, including several diverse acquisitions, the Advantage companies were successfully acquired by a group of private investors in early 2004. At the time of the acquisition, thousands of retailers sold under the Advantage Wireless network. In addition, Advantage Wireless’ employees profited millions through an Employee Stock Ownership Program Mitchell had implemented.
In late 2003, Mitchell acquired a wireless data service provider which was then on the verge of its third bankruptcy within 6 years. After acquiring the company—Ricochet Networks, Inc. — Mitchell streamlined the company’s operations and repositioned it to suit Homeland Security applications rather than consumers. Four months after Mitchell acquired Ricochet, the company turned its first profit since its inception in 1997. Ricochet was successfully sold to Terabeam, a nationwide publicly traded wireless infrastructure company, in June of 2004.
In 2008, Mitchell took over as CEO for a venture and private capital funded residential online brokerage, called ReLogic.com. The ReLogic concept is to provide homebuyers and sellers, including investors, a web-centric and consumer friendly full service and lower priced alternative. ReLogic’s website (www.Relogic.com) includes free properties searches, valuations, and industry video news. Today, the company operates three other divisions outside of Relogic including property management, investor finance, and property acquisition and renovation. In addition, the company recently launched it’s own home brand called “Essence Homes” which hopes to provide a unique blend of style, value and quality for first time home buyers.
Mitchell and his respective companies have long been recognized for innovation and entrepreneurship. In 2000, Advantage Wireless was awarded the prestigious honor of “Colorado Small Business of the Year” by the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce. The Denver Business Journal also named Mitchell in the “top 40 under 40” for business executives of Colorado and Mitchell was a finalist in Ernst and Young’s nationally recognized “Entrepreneur of the Year” contest. Mitchell has also been featured on CNN and in Entrepreneur magazine.
