Mr.McVaney is the founder and retired Chairman, President and CEO of J.D. Edwards, a multi-national software company based in Denver.
J.D. Edwards was acquired by PeopleSoft in 2003. As a Division of PeopleSoft it continues to develop, market and supports highly functional enterprise resource planning software to facilitate the operation and management of complex enterprises. J.D. Edwards provides the core software to run entire businesses - financials, inventories, factories, people, and equipment.
Under Mr. McVaney’s leadership, J. D. Edwards grew from 3 employees in 1977 to over 5,000 employees. It has installed its software for 5,200 customers in 107 countries and in 18 languages around the world.
Ed was graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1964 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He received his MBA from Rutgers University in 1966 and he is a certified public accountant.
Ed and his wife Carole have 3 adult children and 7 lovely grandchildren. Carole is quietly active in philanthropic activities. Ed is an antique car buff, a fake rancher and an avid fly fisher. He continues to make his living the old fashioned way - hunting and fishing.
Most recently Ed spent six months working with the Coalition Provisional Authority in Baghdad, Iraq. He lived in a trailer and worked daily in Saddam’s Republican Palace. His missives to friends were humorously signed “Edward of Iraq.”
Ed lives in Silverthorne, Colorado.
